Checking a report in the Yorkshire Post yes he seems to have said "Likely"
but his emphasis is a little stronger than Brown's ~ who still seems to be in denial.

Actually that is something about the whole story that I found curious. Everyone was rounded on Osborne asking what he was doing there. Rothschild was a friend of his from uni   (not any more methinks) so it seems plausible that he may have been invited, but just what was Mandleson doing there?

This recession's been on the way for months; it's been like a tsunami in the distance gaining ground every week.

HMG have been standing on the beach facing the wrong way saying No, it's not here. By the end of the month they'll be soaking wet, running around shouting Recession! Recession! and telling us all how they'll help us not drown  ::)
Two of my neighbours have lost jobs this week; one has until mid November to find something else, the other's new job contract has been frozen indefinitely  evil:
I've lost one contract this month due to US recessional action and cut back.

I reckon Mandy will end up being a scapegoat, resign for a third time and Broon will sidestep more accusations. evil:

This Osbourne story is a real non-event. I doubt very much if he actually asked for a donation. It might have been implied that 'something' from one of his UK companies (Leyland DAF - Good Grief!) wouldn't be sniffed at but nothing illegal.

It's certainly gaining pace, I've interviewed eight people for jobs yesterday and today, three of then had been made redundant in the last three weeks, all from smaller companies. For every "50 - 100 job losses" stories we see, I suspect there are far more being made redundant at smaller companies
