Well it was, until Growler filled it with various sorts of transport!

The poppys are out early this year, I noticed a couple of sellers as I walked to the office this morning.

I'll always buy one but it's still two weeks away. Next week is soon enough.

Also TV presenters have been sporting them. I'd guess that they're told to wear them. In which case it's wrong.
(I cycled London to Paris three years running to raise money for them)

Another 4 rungs up on me social ladder! eeek:
I'm impressed, very!
eeek:

I'll be falling off the top soon!

Haven't you noticed your karma is moving in a positive direction over the past couple of days? ;)

How long did the bike ride take then? Genuinely interested. Love challenging stuff. cloud9:

I rode a 49cc moped from J.O.G to Lands End in 3 days for charity 8 years ago.
Still got an arse like Rawhide even now. sad32:
We did it in four days... set off from Greenwich and ended up at the arc de triumph or whatever it is called...

Excellent fun...  eyes:

Admirable.  angel1

I rode my mountain bike along the route of the Offa Dyke path just before Crimbo in 1996 in 4 sub zero temperature icy days.
That WAS hell, and I've still got the scars to show for it. sad32:
Great fun looking back on it now though.

Raised £400 for cancer research though.  cloud9:

 cussing:

It's all relevant. Raising money and not forgetting those that have either served/are serving for us, or who are not as fortunate as the rest of us.

Really don't see any problem here tbh. noooo:

We all have these now.

We still put money in the pots but find these are far easy to cope with. I bought them for the family last year.

I never give to people doing charity fun runs, cycling up Snowdon, Offas Dyke, 1000 mile offroad bike challenges through Africa or whatever.

If you want to have fun then do so, just don't pretend it's for charity. How much do these things cost to do anyway? I'd guess sometimes more than is raised for the 'good' cause.

end of 'Bah Humbug' moment

Given that my cousin recently did a bike ride to Amsterdam for help the aged and had to raise something like £2000 before she was even allowed to participate one does have to wonder.

Your choice, and as a matter of clarification, everything I did was NOT in pretence of doing it for charity.
It was MY way of doing something for a dear and young freind who died of cancer at the age of 34, raising money ( without the help of some 'fund raising organisation' )for the local hospice and The Samaritans who my dad worked for voluntarily until he died at the age of 78.

I don't want any plaudits and pats on the back, I'm just proud that I found a way of raising money in a way that I was comfortable with rather than just chucking a few quid in a rattling tin.

RBL organises P2P every year so there must be money it it for them...

You don't just turn up - you have to raise a minimum amount to be included... It is obviously good PR too.
