Diggerland?
« on: October 30, 2008, 10:09:40 AM »
I'm off today, and as promised, I'm taking the kids to Diggerland near Castleton, Leeds...ish. even though I feel like a bag of poo with this never ending man flue. ::)

From my perspective, I'm seeing this as a bit of industrial spying. whistle:

Swamp 2 goes big soon p'raps? Watch this space! ;)

Good day out that.
'THE BOY' would create mayhem enjoy that Nick.
Being let loose with tens of thousands of pounds worth of digging machinery.
They really do let you too! eeek:

The only thing I've really learned todaythough, is to NOT EVER EVER NEVER  employ spotty yoofs. noooo:
Talk about the land of the living dead! eeek:
Miserable, dis-interested, grunting, disheveled (sp), and looking decidedly bored, and that was just the few working adults they had there.

Felt sorry for the poor woman at the snack caf., and gave her a tip whilst paying for some drinks, but she miserably refused it. eeek:

I fail to see how you could spend a whole day there though tbh, as we'd done just about everything there was to do within 2 hours. No ques though granted.
£52 entry (normally £62) was a bit steep I thought, but I suppose the investment in the machinery alone must be into the millions. All proper JCB gear too.
I also didn't wear the excuse for the Landrover off roading experience being unable to run, due to 'exceptionally soggy ground'.
Give me strength. eeek:

I wish!
The price of the gear they had there is enough to make your eyes bleed, and they DO make a point of displaying what the value of the gear is that you're just about to let your sprogs loose on.
Mini digger (which was actually the most fun tbh) kick out at 8K.
The bigger toys start in the high 10K's, and vanish into statospheric numbers.

Remarkably easy to use once you've got the co-ordination section of your brain in gear, but would become increasingly difficult once you have to start manouvering the beast about on site too though I'd imagine.
These things are well anchored to the floor. ;)
Bloody great fun though, and i can see why kids luv 'em so much. (and adults)
Bank manager beckons, as I NEED one...or two, or so. cloud9:

That's killed that idea off then.  ::)

I would imagine Scallyland is awash with inexpensive "second hand" plant from building sites.  whistle:

One of my Cypriot mates here was after one...

I did some searching on t'interweb and found them remarkably cheap in the UK.... Especially at these 'clearance' and auction sites.

Lets face it, you don't need hundreds of hours on the tyres or for it to even be roadworthy... quick coat of bright yellow paint and bish-bosh you are up-and-running...  happy088
