I met Mrs TG on the internet.  eeek:

Back then it was ICQ / IRC or nowt. No avatars, let alone purchased genitals.  noooo:

My daughter just discovered ICQ, she was a bit put out when I told her I met her stepmum 10 years ago on it.
I think my cat wants to kill me...

Some Second Lifers have been known to misbehave - a US journalist was attacked by flying penises when conducting an interview in his virtual office.

Endless opportunities eh Wenchy?

It was the image of dive bombing penises toward a balding bonce that got me.  lol:

Isn't the plural 'Penes' ?

According to "Collins Concise" dictionary either Penises or Penes is acceptable although they do give Penises first.
Not to be confused with Pennes which is a type of pasta

On line meeting places for people who ~ uhm ~ don't want to put "contact ads" in their local paper I assume.
I figure that ICQ is I Seek You but I can't work out the other one.

IRC : Internet Relay Chat. The grandaddy of chat machines. MSN etc all follow on from it.

ICQ : (ISeekYou) Developed in Isreal if memory serves back on the mid 90's. Very commercial now but it used to be a lot of fun.

That about right. What MSN is now ICQ was doing back then, But it was sold to a big internet company in about 2000 and went downhill from there.

Sad to say but I sent about 14 hours on Millennium eve alone in the house on ICQ. But I was chatting to people all over the world as midnight moved around the planet.

Bear in mind this was before broadband and we had phone bills around £200 a month for a while.

I hate to sound like an old git but the internet was a lot more fun then.

I used to use it back then too and I agree it was much more fun. We had just got hooked up to the net at home and we were all obsessed with it.

It was a lot easier when you just went down the Palais on a Saturday night, picked up a bird, shagged her and moved on.
