Most excellent!

I remember a 'meeting' in a wine bar in Datchet on Beaujolais day many years ago... the wine was to die for and I remember little of the meeting...  noooo:

Sadly, the wine has never tasted as good since... perhaps it was the ambiance... or the company...  eyes:

I'm not sure if Breakfast is the best time to start sampling Beaujolais. I shall report back...  rubschin:

I work on the principle that it is always five o'clock somewhere.

As a chap that used my pub daily said, every morning, as he lifted his first of the day.

"Oh alcohol you are a pest,
You often keep me from my rest
You turn my best friends into foes
And often make me wear old clothes
But since you are beneath my nose
CHEERS! 'Ere goes!"
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Tasting hints for Beaujolais:

The closer to the bottom of the bottle the better the wine  ;)

The second bottle will not be a mistake until the morning  confused:

The third bottle is best left until you have had lunch  8)

Book and pay for the taxi before you start sampling  whistle:

My Dad had a thing about Beaujolais Nouveau, mind you he had a thing about most alcohol, however, one night at about 3am my Mum came and woke me up to say I needed to call an ambulance because he was gurgling blood in his sleep. She was in a right old panic. Went in to see him and switched the bedside light on. It was sodding vino not blood. He wasn't allowed out on Beaujolais Nouveau night after that.

We always used to put on a "special" event for the Beaujolais Nouveau when we had pubs. Always a good day, even when the wine was below par ~ which is is more years than not. But it is a lot of fun and a wonderful marketing ploy.

One year we put baskets of fried frogs legs out on the bar for people to try. After some initial reluctance they were all eaten. The snails were not so well received.

Another year we themed the day around "'Ello 'Ello" ~ that was a cracker of a day and night  eyes:

redface:   Kedgeree, bacon, sausage, tomato ... and two or three glasses of BN. The place was packed out by 9am and the BN and buffet going down well. A candle lit brekky in a dark cellar; good start to the day.

I might have to go for a nap.  surrender:
