Seems we got praise for just about everything we did: Bringing the whole thing in on time and under budget, the volunteers, the forces stepping in to take care of security and impressing so many visitors, the general organisation of everything, the various iconic venues ..... FFS even the weather came right in the end.
Never have I enjoyed two weeks of TV like it. Brilliant job by all ....... even Michael Jordan whose comments I found insightful and informative as well as hugely entertaining. The man knows his subject and only by listening to the best can we learn how to be better.

This is prolly why I don't venture into the Sports Bar....  redface:

But Tessa Jowell said the whole thing would cost £2.3 Billion way back when the bid was won....

Current estimates of the costs are in the order of £10B to £25B and it could be a great deal more once the costs of security for the abandoned stadia are factored in for years...

Hardly under budget....

Even if it is only £10B, you could have given every man, woman and child in the UK £160 - you could have got a Sky Sports subscription for that or spent is as you wished. A much better feel-good factor IMHO...

And of course, the £10B - £25B that has been spent wasn't sitting in the bank gathering dust - the country has borrowed that lot to pay for it... we'll be paying it back waaaaayy after the whole circus has moved on to Brazil and prolly several more after that....

It's good to see some things don't change  lol:

The French are asking whether the Brits were given an advantage in a number of different events throughout the Games and questioning whether there was fair play  lol:

Cameroonian boxers who deserted their Olympic squad have told the BBC they wish to stay in the UK to develop their careers.

The morning after GB had won a few golds (  lol: ) in the velodrome the French were saying we had special wheelsand they must be illegal because as soon as the race was over the bikes were wrapped up and taken from view. When they put this to the medallists the following morning on TV they said they were welcome to check it out as the wheels were made in France  lol:
