I've just been watching highlights of yesterdays swimming. When they come to do the turn at the other end, those that have no arms bang there head into the wall, that's gotta hurt

Another golden moment from the Olympic Stadium. Aled Davies, 21yrs old and built like a brick hithouse winnning gold in the discus. He went to the crowd to celebrate, got a hug off him mum, who gave him a kiss then promptly wet her hankie and wiped his face clean  lol:

Did you see the German table tennis gold medallist who was so gracious in supporting Will Bailey when he won the silver but was devastated.

Well done Kate Middleton on taking my hint about not being there. Nice to see you there last night ma'am

What a bad loser Oscar Pistorius was, he reckons he lost because the Brazilian guy had longer legs/blades. If Pistorius had of run as fast as he did in his heat where he broke the world record he'd have won  noooo:

Quote
Pistorius was convinced that the running blades Oliveira was using were too long, and called for the International Paralympic Committee to investigate. This from a man who has had to fight long and hard to overturn doubts about whether or not he himself has an unfair advantage when he is competing against non-disabled runners.

The twist in the story is that it is the very fact Pistorius wants to run in the Olympics and other able-bodied competitions that cost him here.

To do crossover like that, he can only run on blades that have been cleared for use by the IAAF, the sport's governing body. Longer blades, of the kind Oliveira used, are only legal in Paralympic events.

If Pistorius switched, he would not be able to run in non-disabled competitions. Besides which, he would undermine his own argument that his success is about the body above the knee, rather than the technology below it. In a sense, he is a victim of his own ambition.

Sets up an interesting scenario for the 100 and 400 m races yet to be run  whistle:

Ellie Simmonds did it again. A second gold, and another world record... and the other GB lass got bronze, missing out on Silver by 1/100th of a second

In the equestrian events, shouldn't it be the horse that's disabled?  rubschin:
