As is usual at this time of the year and in common, I imagine, with many others I have just tried to place my annual order for Filofax (2009) pages for both my Desk Fax and SWMBO's Pocket Fax.

Their system has crashed due to the weight of callers.

Is it me or would you have thought that during December they might have thought they could be slightly busier than in other months and made sure the system was backed up in some way?

I got clever one year and ordered it in October ~ they sent me an Oct to Oct diary

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to work in Higher Ed where Mrs S#2 lectures but I guess it is useful that Filofax seem to be able to work out any sort of year if you ask them. It just surprised me as I hadn't actually asked for Oct to Oct ~ I was doing some early Christmas shopping.

I actually use google calender and have moved mr wench onto it aswell. I run a work, family and personal diary through it and Mr Wench runs school and personal. We have access to each others personal and the family calender so now I can run things from wherever for both of us and no clashes occur. Also my friends run google calender too and events can be emailed and diarised much easier.

I know but people give us these expensive leather filo things and one feels obliged. Besides Mrs S#2 is all over the place and needs summat to jot things down in ~ she transfers them to the desk fax every evening so that I know what is going on when.

And before anyone says Blackberry or Palm Pilot the answer is that she is not technically capable.

Mr Wench isn't technically capable either. He still runs a diary and he is now in the habit of sitting down every night and updating the calender.

Indeed. However, it was his own fault for scheduling in MILFH to come and visit on the same weekend I had a girls dinner planned.

There are a load of programs out now that can help those who are not technically capable. I'm testing a vioce command program and a better handwriting recognition program than microsoft ships and its pretty good so far.

Which is all very well but no friggin' use to her sat in a friggin' lecture hall. "Oh I'll just switch on my lap-top and bellow a date or two into it"
