Wyevale Garden Centres
Crest Nicholson (House Builders ~ do they count? If not with the Rools then substitute Principles)
Miss Selfridge
Bay Trading
Barratts
Outfit

Also you could perm any three from five Estate Agents chains (The local independants will prolly survive)
I would like to say Harrods but I expect the Banks who virtually own it anyway will be reluctant to pull the plug just yet.
It would not surprise me to see Ryan Air slip below the waves either.

I hate to say I told you so but...........

Actually it is quiet poignant for me. My dad left school in 1938 (aged 14) and was apprenticed to Barratts as a trainee shoe salesman. Yes a real apprenticeship in retail for three years. In 1939 he was still with them and a member of the Home Guard until his call up, at the end of his apprenticeship, in 1941. He then returned to Barratts as a shop manager in 1961 until the last ten years of his life when he worked for the John Lewis Partnership.
Mrs S#2 was a manager of a Barratts shop in Oxford Street after moving back to London following her divorce.

It's like losing one of the family  sad24:

I'm working on my top six even as I type...  ;)

Focus DIY
Homebase
JJB Sports
M&B Pubs
Punch Taverns
DFS

Quote
JJB Sports firms shed 438 staff
JJB has been in protracted negotiations with its creditor banks
The administrators of two fashion and footwear firms owned by JJB Sports - the OSC and Qube chains - are cutting 438 jobs.
The redundancies are a result of the closure of 37 of the 64 OSC stores and eight of the 13 Qube stores.
JJB applied to put the subsidiaries into administration last week after failing to find buyers for them.
It is also considering the sale of its gym business, JJB Fitness Clubs, which operates more than 50 sites.

There won't be much left of JJB before long; being pruned back to nuffink!

I have long felt this fitness/sports thing to be over-rated.

After all the man who invented "Jogging" died of a heart attack whilst .............. Jogging.

He did indeed; what irony... but of course the Yanks don't do irony. I think you're right re over-rated and in fact over-sold. Whilst exercise is vital the rush for binge-fitness is quite misguided and some of the instructors haven't a fecking clue. I know this first hand, sadly.

I suspect the number of health club memberships in the square mile will be dropping like a stone too.
