That'll be slate chippings then won't it?  ::) They make an excellent surface that will not be slippery when wet. Mind you they also make excellent skimming stones for skipping across the water when the tide is in so you may lose a few in the months when the water comes right up.

As for the simulation ~ the driver of the bin lorry needs to go on a course. What sort of arse keeps his foot on the brake (see locked up rear wheels) when a gentle pressure on the accelerator would have pulled him out of that skid. Tit!

Correct on all points, I fear. I have apiece on my desk. Very good for skimming  eveilgrin:

We too have a private (unadopted) road for vehicular access to the rear of the house (and several other houses access either their front or back gates via it) We have in the past used slate chippings and they worked well for about a year but they were carried off in the tyre treads of all the vehicles and had to be replaced. We have tried everything to persuade the council to take over the lane but to no avail. Again, this year, it is a mass of huge potholes and loose gravel and it looks as if the whole surface is breaking up.

Hat. Why?

Just wondered.

It would make it less likely that he was a cowboy.
