Took a careful walk down to the shops earlier; Post Office - queue of about fifty  . The bank - queue of almost the same practically out on to the street 
Ended up having to get cash back in Safeways 
Roads still a mess, pavements worse. Hopeless.

Wednesday February 4 - Freezing conditions in most of the country overnight leading to sunshine in central and southern England with a chance of wintry showers turning to snow inland along the south coast. Possible rain, sleet, snow and strong winds over the south west, south Wales, northern Scotland and Northern Ireland. Maximum temperature 41F (5C), minimum temperature 27F (-3C).

Thursday February 5 - Met Office severe or extreme weather advisories in place for most of England. Risk of up to eight inches (20cm) of snow in Wales and southern and central England, with drifting possible as northeasterly winds strengthen. Maximum temperature 45F (7C) in the south west and minimum 25F (-4C) along the Scottish border.

Friday February 6 - Met Office warning of severe or extreme weather including up to 10 inches (25cm) of snow across parts of central and south east England. More strong north and northeasterly winds could cause snow drifts. Sunshine and showers in areas of central and south west England. Maximum temperature 41F (5C), minimum temperature 23F (-5C).

Saturday February 7 - Cold and bright in most of the country, with strong northerly winds near the coast and in Scotland. Rain is predicted for the south west, Northern Ireland and south Wales. Maximum temperature 43F (6C), minimum night time temperature 23F (-5C).

Sunday February 8 - Continuing cold with widespread frosts, and the chance of wintry showers in the north and longer spells of rain, sleet and snow over hills in the south. Windy at times with risk of gales in western areas and a continued risk of overnight frosts and icy surfaces.

I like the way the Torygraph persists in putting Fahrenheit temperatures first then a concessionary Celsius

VPN is Virtual Private Networking...

It allows you to connect to your office network via the Intermong... all secure like but it is as if you were connected in the office...

Mind you, as Wenchy is supposed to be answering the phone I'm not sure how this would help...

I have remotely logged into to my pc at work from my laptop. So I have a window open that opens onto my pc and I could work it from here. Much easier. However, I can't answer the phone or make tea remotely.
