Leaky roof
« on: February 05, 2009, 06:56:31 PM »
Mr T and I are the proud owners of a fabulous apartment over 'ere............ spent my retirement lump sum on it!!! 100sq m , stunning views, swimming pool (admittedly shared but we don't have to clean it), 2 double bedrooms, fully fitted kitchen, lounge, dining room, bathroom, huge balcony from which we can watch stunning sunsets whilst sipping chilled wine.

We've had it 3 years and every winter the ****** ceiling leaks.

Each year it gets repaired.

Each next year it leaks somewhere else!!!

This year Mr T exploded = job is being done properly......... not just patches..... a whole new 6 inch thick concrete slab which is being sloped toward the 4 drains that still work.

Today water + dilute concrete was oozing from the immersion switch in next door's apartment!  shocked003 (had BM's electric works reached that far???)

Any guesses what might happen next winter???  scared2:

we reckon the ceiling is now  so heavy it will be the floor by next Christmas and we'll be ................

back in the UK!!!

You could always let BM loose on it, the way he's knocking holes in his place he could have the weight of the roof down to a safe level in no time  whistle:

Sorry to hear of your plight Tinks...

Have you sought advice about your legal rights in this situation  - do you have to keep paying for these patch repairs as part of the service charges for the block ???

As it would seem like a license to scam money if that was the case.

No money worries on that front...we had it logged from the first time it happened... so it's down to the developer, who in all fairness has always paid for a repair... just not a proper one. It all came to a head this year and we went straight to the top....company MD..... and at considerable expense to his company (no doubt) it looks like a proper job is being done at last. Not only that, they are redecorating our apartment and putting a new floor in the bedroom (previous laminate got flooded and curled up)

Stupidly they admitted in an email that the original roofing contractors were shite!!!!  eeek:

Hear we are to meet in May Miss D????  Much wine me thinks!!  ;)

The message would be shown leaving my machine at about 7.30 but arriving with them about 6 hours later.
