Sleeplessness
« on: February 11, 2009, 09:48:59 AM »
Right. I am getting tired of this. For years now I have woken between 1 and 2 in themorning and then failed to get off to sleep again till about 5  evil: Same last night, except every time I dozed off I found myself being held at gunpoint by Nazis or some similar horror.  eeek:

Most people I know of may age report that they regularly lie awake half the night worrying about stuff that gets all out of proportion in the small hosurs and then get up the next morning at Christ Almighty o'clock knackered and despondent  noooo:

Tried sleeping pills. No difference.

Tried herbal stuff. No difference.

It is really pissing me off  Banghead

Are others here thus challenged?

Any solutions?

Check on iplayer to see if last night's Horizon is on there yet. You may find that enlightening.

I can't tell you that much about it as I dozed off before the end.  whistle:

It may be a guilty conscience ~ have you searched your's lately?

Seriously I find this is my usual time for being awakened ~ and it never happened before I moved here! Mrs S#2 has the same trouble as do others I have spoken to in the village. We are of the belief that it is the aircraft (f'ing big ones) that fly out taking the wings from BEA/Aerospace at Broughton to Toulouse that are waking us. You would also hear them as they do seem to fly down the estuary. They make a very distant droning noise ~ quite unlike any other aircraft I know of and the noise does go on for a surprising amount of time (remember they are very big, very heavy and are climbing out over the Irish Sea). This seems the most plausible explanation as I know of at least two dozen people who are woken by "something" at about that time. As far as I know no-one has yet asked Broughton if they do fly out at that time of night.
As for interpreting your dreams  ~ that belongs to a phycologist and most of them don't believe in the interpretation theories anyway.
I too use sleeping pills (industrial strength) from time to time and they do help but the best plan is to accept it, get up, do some work and then spend the morning or afternoon in bed catching up on your eight hours.
My pal the software man, who often works through the night as his clients are mainly in the US, has heard the droning between 1 and 2 and it wakes his dogs.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

This may sound like a strange question but if you are waking up at 1am what time are you getting to sleep beforehand? Its been a while since I was a student nurse but if I remember correctly sleep runs in 4 hour cycles so its possible by that time you have hit REM and are dreaming the same one that you have later on and that is why you are waking up.

As for interpreting your dreams  ~ that belongs to a phycologist and most of them don't believe in the interpretation theories anyway.

It depends on how you look at it hound. The fortune telleresque interpretations are just pure hokum but recent research does appear indicate that dreams are a subconscious mirror of your conscious mind. you can look at the elements of the story to get an idea of what is goin on in that person's head.

If the nightmares are all of a similar vein then I would hazard a guess that you are worried about a group or an entity that directly affects you but you have no control over at present.
