Some years ago we wanted to open savings accounts for the children at a well known High Street Bank. Somewhere that the children could pop the cheques that doting grandparents handed out at birthdays etc.
(i) They wanted samples of the children's signatures ~ one was seven, one was two and a half and the other six months.
(ii) They then asked for "utility bills" in the children's names to prove that they existed and lived where the application forms said.
The excuse was "Money Laundering Regulations"
We went elsewhere.
(The clue is in the capitals used in High Street Bank C***s)
