Best Food Blogs
« on: February 18, 2009, 11:21:47 AM »
Found this article in the online Times - 50 of the best food bloggers, allegedly. I haven't trawled through the lot but it might have some hidden gems in there. Any favourites?

Chocolate and Zuchini is a fav of mine and she has also had a couple of books published
Pioneer Woman cooks, well that is a heart attack waiting to happening. The amount of butter that woman uses is obscene. Also a book on the way I think
Smitten Kitchen I also like.
The Kitchn is a nice blog but I don't tend to use it so much for recipes.

I also like, amusing and some nice recipes.

And this one I sometimes use for packed lunches

Food blogging is a HUGE area.

I don't really gel well with a blog unless it has decent pictures.

Right. Here we go...

http://chocolateandzucchini.com/archives/2009/02/brussels_sprouts_with_onions_and_squash_seeds.php#more

Tonight's substitutions are...

Red onions, 'cos I like the colour
Toasted pistachio nuts, 'cos I've still got half a kilo left over from the Iran trip

And, er... chicken as opposed to duck breasts... they want about 7 quid for a pair of duck breasts in Tesco's  eeek:

Hell no! That would be like a job. As it happens the day she published it I was on hols and had all the stuff in the house already. I'm not often that quick off the mark.

Well, the verdict...

Hmmm. I've had brussels with chestnuts before but this was quite different; the inclusion of mild chilli pepper and toasted pistachio put the taste somewhere to the East of the Alps. Softened red onions made the bridge to the flesh of the fowl and in spite of getting the timing out by a few seconds, it was nothing short of delicious.  cloud9:
