Ain't home education a wonderful thing?
We have spent the morning learning how to navigate round the world. This is by way of an intro to the clock making project ~ somehow we ended up making Chapatis but we have covered Mercator and his map, the introduction of money into trade, the clipping of coins and how Newton invented the milled edge to prevent people doing this, looked at "the promise" on paper money and discussed how the Bank of England would keep that promise, why ships measure their speed in Knots, early clocks ~ Marked candles, water clocks and sundials (include in that a quick reminder of last year's visit to Stone Henge) etc.
A busy and productive morning I feel ~ they are eating their "we made these" chapatis for their lunch.
And nobody had to get dressed up or even buy an unwanted and overpriced book to use up the £1 book token they get for appearing at school dressed as a fictional character.
