Another Brown con
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article5864817.eceMINISTERS have spent £900m paying off 15,000 civil servants only to recruit an extra 42,020 in new permanent jobs, according to figures released by parliament.
In the past four years government departments have paid £882m in severance packages, worth an average of £60,000, to staff on voluntary and involuntary redundancy programmes.
Over the same period, however, they have recruited nearly three times as many civil servants, with annual salaries totalling £1 billion, despite government commitments to cutting government waste.
I am old enough to remember when Harold Wilson announced that his Government had cut the civil sevice by something over half a million overnight.
How had they worked this miracle? They had removed all the cleaners, tea ladies etc that worked in Government Departments from the Civil Service and transferred them to private employers. They pulled the same stunt with the old Post Office by removing the Civil Service status once held by the postmen by making the Post Office into The Royal Mail ~ A limited company that they happened to own all the shares in.
Do they really think we are stupid? ~ Don't answer that .... we know they do. Time to show them we are not. Bring on the revolution.
