A man has survived a plunge of 180ft (55m) over the Niagara Falls, becoming only the second person in more than 100 years to go over the falls with no protective device and live

I visited Niagara many years ago now and was left feeling quite disappointed ( hence the mysterious title of the thread  lol: ) by the reality of it all.
I obviously had my preconceptions from what I had seen in the films etc and perhaps my own idealistic and romantic connotations of it all which had set up an expectation, sadly unrealised.

I thought it would be much more impressive somehow and it had always been a real desire of mine to visit. Whilst not a waste of a day , I did enjoy elements of it, I wouldn't go again and I wouldn't particularly recommend it to others.

Has anyone else felt that way about places they have visited (brothels excluded naturally  lol: )

Dead bodies in the street, thieves on every corner, the heat, the humidity, the impossibility of finding a plate to eat from that didn't have a festering crack in it... getting stranded at Lagos airport and sleeping in the lounge for 24 hours under constant fear of being mugged/raped....

Apart from that it was quite nice tho...  rubschin:

The Sphynx. For some reason I thought it was going to be about twice as big as it actually is.
