Has he given any indication of when he will be returning and has he been signed off sick by a doctor ????

Unless your boss is prepared to prioritise your workload and accept that some will not be done then his support is fairly meaningless  noooo:

I've had one of our lovely receptionists helping out with data entry and odd jobs for a few days last week but then my boss nicked her as his assistant is on holiday.
