I'm very busy at the moment, in fact completely 'snowed under' with work. My little team of three is now one. I lost one to maternity leave, earlier than expected due to illness so no proper handover and now the other member has been off since last Friday afternoon for 'personal reasons'. It seems he is going through a marital breakup, not that he's married but it amounts to same thing.
Now, I can understand and sympathise with him, having gone through similar myself but he has left me struggling to get everything done and that's impossible. All I can do is the most urgent work, everything else is getting left.
I'm getting angry and resentful but should I? After all I'm sure this chap considers his problems overide his work commitments but he's aware of the work situation. Even when there was the two of us we were beginning to feel that we would need a temp to cover some of the work that was starting to pile up.
Also, during my marriage breakup I still continued to turn up and do my job so why can't he?
Right ~ I feel better for getting that off my chest.
