Miss D you have taught me a valuable lesson!  cloud9:

I had a customer with a broken system caused by a lightening strike - out of warranty so I quoted €400 for the likely replacement part (a satellite modem) and €100 for the service call.

Today he calls and wants to drop the part in to save the service call

Meet him in the village, collect the modem and put it on test - it is buggered, deceased, an ex-modem.

Send an e-mail to his Blackberry telling him is is fooked and the replacement is €400 and he calls me straight back...

Customer: No problem, can it wait 'til the first week in April?
Barman: No hurry at all
Customer: I'll pick up the modem this arvo then?
Barman: (thinking of how Miss D tricked him) You want the modem without paying me for it first? I don't think so!
Customer: I'll cancel my subscription then!
Barman: Okay, bye, bye...

Fecking Tricked YOU !!!!!!!!!

I did not seek your help - you donned your cloak of kindness and offered a damsel in distress some roadside assistance. Then, and only after the event, have you started discussing terms and conditions and contracts and parts therefrigginof

I shall pay you back - IN MAY  crash:

 lol:

Can unsought advice be considered a gift and not a donation?  - Whilst I appreciate intelligence and knowledge is a gift , this is personal  to the individual. When this is shared is this a present  rubschin:

This was  more a transfer of data at an appropriate bit rate to a  ignorant end user  lol:

You have to go onto the Intranet site and then raise a request for the IT dept to help you.

 rubschin:

Is it me being a layman, or is there a fundamental flaw in that method of reporting a broken PC?

Well DS ~ If it's you then it's me too. I once phoned my ISP's help line to get a recorded message telling me that I should route my enquiry via their website. Since I wanted to gain information as to why their email service had stopped working that was tricky.  Banghead
