Burglar Alarms
« on: March 21, 2009, 08:13:20 AM »

I was deep in the land of Nod last night , it was peaceful, restful , restorative. Then at 3.58 am (approx) my world was shattered by a blaring siren, shattering my calm.

The friggin burglar alarm of an office across the way was whooping and whirring away. Now if this was a one off it I would be a little more understanding perhaps ( perhaps not though at that time in the morning ) but this is about the third time in 2 weeks .  They have not been broken into on any of these occasions ,  it seems the alarm is slightly defective and has a mind of its own.

It will be completely defective very shortly when they return to the office and find that the thing has been smashed to pieces by a random act of vandalism  evil:

I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

The alarm has gone off twice today and is currently providing a beautiful musical interlude to my day  evil:

I could be mistaken but if this thing is going off so frequently because it is faulty can't environmental health step in on the grounds of noise pollution?

You are not mistaken but a better way to get it sorted is to call the police and report a burglary in progress. Several calls to the same alarm and they start sending invoices to the premises owners. That usually has the desired effect.

Course they can - I could write the bloody notice and schedule out for them - I have all the templates at home  eveilgrin:

Except that the local authority I live in would no more action this then they would pay me some back on my Council Tax  evil:

And I can't authorise it as I'm only authorised in the local authority I work in and not live in
