My Great, Great Grandfather was adjudged by the Coroner's Jury to have "Died by the Visitation of God".
In fact the surgeon said he died of unspecified natural causes but the Jury weren't having any of that ~ If one of their number died in his sleep at the age of 56 they felt something more was needed. In point of fact he probably died of long term Arsenic poisoning as he was a tinsmith and they used Arsenic in their work and early death was not uncommon ~ for no apparent reason.
Frankly I rather like the phrase the jury selected ....... given that this was in 1860 and people held religion in much greater esteem than they do today it was probably meant as a comfort to his window and 14 (
) children.
