A lady I work with in the Oxfam shop has a 7 month old grandchild. This child has not had a good start in life having spent most of his time in hospital with amongst other things, epilepsy, Hyper active thalmus or thyroid or summat and respitory problems. 

The child is now back in hospital having been diagnosed with swine flu.

Doesn't look good.

What a bastard.

Homily # 1 : Puts it all into perspective dunnit.

Homily # 2 : I ain't got a job but I've still got my health.

Homily # 3 : Mrs TG works in the front line with the NHS so we* will get the much vaunted and no doubt highly effective cure before any other bugger!

And so on.

* I say 'we' but I may be left to sniffle over my stiff upper lip in a corner somewhere.  noooo:

Hope the kid makes it ~ but then perhaps with all the other problems ....................... Fuck! Life is a crock of shit!!!

There but for the grace of God . . etc.

It will be a terrible worry for them but the odds are not all that bad if the diagnosis was early.

There will be many more such stories before it is over I fear.  noooo:

Two of my guys are off with it, and a fellow manager. I was in a meeting with one of them for an hour or so last week

Today, a colleague comes in, all sniffs and snuffles and says he may have it (prize prick). His missus works in A & E reception... it's only a matter of time

I was in the doctor's this morning arranging a repeat prescription and we got talking about swine flu. He said that it comes on very rapidly, within a couple of hours. If you've got sniffles and a bit of a cough for a day or so then it's just a cold.
