Today, I have mostly been front of house at a swine flu clinic.

This involves shouting, bullying people to sign disclaimers in case they drop dead, gurning at young wimmin students, lots of bits of paper an forms, nurses and more shouting.

I shall be doing the same next Wednesday.

I have been offered the flu jab.  scared2:

What do do? Jab or not to jab?  rubschin:

You will be vaccinated with a dead virus that your body's defensive system will build up antibodies to so that IF you catch the real virus you will have in-build protection. You cannot catch anything from the dead virus. That said the Swine Flu vaccine contains other things that may cause a reaction and as yet there are no real statistics to tell us whether these "side effects" are dangerous or just an irritant. The main cause for concern as far as I can make out are the contents of the vaccine, Pandemrix, made by GlaxoSmithKline, which includes Thiomersal as a preservative and Squalene, a fish oil based additive which boosts the immune system allowing lower doses of the active ingredient to be used.
To coin a phrase the jury is still out on those two items. You have to make a choice.

I'm sure i heard that only 25-30% of nursing staff have the conventional flu jab when offered. A ex-colleague had a severe reaction to a flu-jab 20 years ago and ended up paralysed for the rest of his days. I won't be having one HTH.

Just discussed this with the local Practice Nurse (as she redressed me bum)

In her opinion she would not give the Swine Flu jab to her children and is certainly not planning to have one herself. In my specific case, given my "underlying health issues", she feels that the potential for side effects is far outweighed by the possibility of serious complications should I catch the swine flu, so recommends that I have it. She see the dangers in the vaccine as being the "additives" rather than the dead flu virus in the injection. I have referred to these in a previous post but at the risk of boring you all the major concerns expressed by many, including my friendly nurse, are:
Thiomersal ~ which is a preservative often used in vaccinations. It is in fact an organomercury compound and that is the one that those who argue that Autism may be a result of vaccinations point to. It is a mercury and we all know that mercury can be deadly.
Squalene ~ is a fish oil based immune system booster. It is worth noting that Squalene is NOT being added to the vaccine being used in the USA because it is not licensed for use there. There are questions being asked as to the need for this additive which is, apparently, there to enable a single injection to be given rather than the recommended two jabs a fortnight apart (making it cheaper for HMG).

When I was playing host with the most at the swine flu clinic as far as I know the 3 practice nurses doing the business had not had it either.

Doing it again on Wednesday so I will ask the question.

Interestingly 3 of the doctors have had it. One of them was after me and after about 30 seconds in the room she burst out of the door and told one of the other doctors to get an Epi-pen and stand by in case she went into shock.  eeek:

We larfed.

Doctors really do seem to be the worst patients.

Tamiflu is wot they give you to treat flu symptoms along with a hankie..

We have had the Pandemrix vaccine which is, well, a vaccine.

But no doubt the above mentioned story will fill up next weeks swine flu clinic.

Just scaremongering to try and take our minds off the imploding economy.
