Problems with the VP server
« on: May 07, 2009, 11:36:31 AM »
Not been able to get in for the past half hour or so and more worryingly, twice this morning on navigating between topics I was redirected to another, somewhat dubious site (youtubxxxx) and then got lots of attempted popup and virus warnings.

I have had problems getting into the site, but no dodgy stuff.

I suspect Miss D has found BM trying to post her bikini pics on here and has taken action.  whistle:

I've had the company anti virus and security programs going nuts this morning while logged into this site. 10 enforced reboots in as many minutes.

I had problems last week but none this. I should look nearer to home for your problems. Mine vanished when I purged the virus using AVG and then switched from using IE to Firefox. I never seem to get the log in probs or virus attacks when using Firefox ~ dunno why I keep IE except that it automatically logs me on whereas Firefox requires me to DIY the log in.

Two different machines - at home this morning and here at work. Probably connected to using IE but I'm still inclined to put the root cause to the VP server as no other site is playing up.

Well we don't own the server ~ we simply rent the space on it. BM is the only one able to speak to them and he seems to be "otherwise engaged" at the moment ~ perhaps if we all shout his name at the same time he may hear us ~ or then again maybe he won't.

Let's just accept that all servers have problems from time to time and they get sorted eventually. We are certainly not the only ones using this server.

I agree, all servers come under attack, even our work ones do. Still, the AVG at home and the McAfee here stopped any nasties.
