I don't seem able to post images, and the youtube links are just that, not the movie itself

Ah....  rubschin:

That's two extra packages I need to add to the system...

I won't do it now as: -
  • The power is about to go off
  • I am going to completely re-install the whole lot later in the week
OK?

I've struggled with pub problems on and off all week...  surrender:

Both the databases on which the pub is based are in a state of confusion. There should only be one but there are two...

The 'technical support' people have found it impossible to answer the question "why are there two and when was the second one created" - they'd rather blah, blah on about irrelevant shite...  Banghead

This is a typical reply that has no relation to the question asked: -

Quote
Hi,

The database you are using is indeed hosted on an older MySQL server (version 4.1.22). If you wish to upgrade to a more recent version such as 5.0.77 you would need to backup the existing database, delete it from the control panel, create a new mysql05 database then import your backup. Do not confuse the hostnames we've assigned the servers as the version of MySQL in use.

The support ticket system functions fine for the vast majority of our customers without issue. If you could highlight any specific problems you've encountered we'd be happy to address them.

Kind Regards,

Anyhooo... one of the databases IS using an old version and we've agreed that we need to back it up, delete the original, create a new one and upload the old data...

Of course the backup function doesn't work...  noooo:

Now we've got that going I've discovered another major problem: -

Quote
When I perform the steps above I'm returned a download that is 157.6MB. Due to the size of your databases you will not be able to re-upload it to the server (there is a size limitation of 8Mb in place. If you require the databases moved around the task will need to be completed from our side.

So after faffing about for days we won't be able to create a new database anyway....  Banghead

Onwards...
