Got this today at 01.19....... I had no idea that anything had gone wrong..... prolly because the site, whilst still registered, was taken down a year ago.

This is a reason for outage regarding an unplanned disruption of hosting service you may have experienced.

At approximately 15:48PM on Monday 6th February we became aware of a Denial of Service attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial_of_Service) affecting our Maidenhead hosting network. This includes some of our cPanel shared hosting and some dedicated and VDS servers. This would have resulted in services hosted in this facility appearing to be slow or, at times, unavailable. Services hosted in Milton Keynes or Equinix LD5 were unaffected.

As soon as our proactive monitoring systems alerted us to the issue we despatched an engineer to the datacentre who was on site within 5 minutes. We worked to mitigate the issue as quickly as possible and normal service was resumed at 16:24PM.

We pride ourselves on our uptime and strive for 100%, usually achieving that goal. However on this occasion the outage is deeply regrettable. We are working to further increase resiliency and capacity within our Maidenhead network, and already have plans in place to ensure that this cannot happen again.

Please accept our most sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Since we took over the running of Hostroute in July 2011, uptime and stability have been two of our highest priorities. We believe this to be the first disruption of service since our takeover.

Finally, during the outage we fielded hundreds of calls and support tickets, and were able to answer and respond to all of these quickly. If you have any feedback on how we handle issues such as this we would be very interested in hearing from you. We are always looking to improve the service we provide, and our updates during outages are an important part of that.

Kind Regards,

Regards,

The Team at Hostroute

However at least we know that some hosting services are on the ball.  whistle:
