Receiving new pin numbers

I have just received a new pin number for a credit card.

Now I appreciate this needs to be sent separately for security purposes but why then do you have to peel back a panel, scratch off the surface then hold it up to the light to 'reveal the number '   noooo:

This seems absolutely pointless to me.

Is there any specific reason this is done ?

But as Tel said I still have to activate the card by ringing them up and going through my other personalised security questions.

If someone had opened the letter , peeled off the sticker...took a 2p coin to the scratching and got hold of the pin number - why then would they still post the letter to me - surely I just wouldn't receive anything at all . Or am I being really simples  Shrugs:

As for buying dresses and stuff - that would never be considered 'wasting' money  noooo:

You don't have to activate the pin - you have to activate the card. Until you have done that the card is unusable regardless of whether you have a pin number or not  rubschin:

"What is your favourite drink"

"What is your bra size"
