It's hardly £5k  noooo:

It's a few hundred quid to be there from 6 in the morning to 10.30 at night .

Agreed it's hardly a difficult job but having to deal with whinging people who have failed to register to vote and then at the last minute decide they have 'rights' , local Cllr's who want to know on the hour every hour how many have voted, what's the percentage turnout etc, unexpected Chinese local govt observational parties, lots and lots of people who once they have voted want to stop for a natter  or comment about politicians and then making sure everything tallies at the end of the night  - a few hundred quid should just about cover my expenses  lol:

We voted despite a deep sense of apathy.

I'm afraid I am one of the 'Millions died so you could vote' brigade.

Our polling station is very high tech in that they supplied a school ruler to help voters force the mahoosive ballot paper into the ballot box.  ;D

In fact we had two ballot papers and two ballot boxes which must have been confusing for some of the ingrates round here. But they were colour coded so that may have helped some.  happy088

They were very helpful :

Minion : You put the green paper in the box with the green label and the yellow paper in the box with the yellow label.
TG : Really?
Minion : Yes.
TG : Thank you, I am glad to see that the future of democracy is in safe hands.

 noooo:

I think my cat wants to kill me...

Meanwhile Labour have been routed throughout England as far as the County Elections are concerned. Overall the Conservatives have won just about everything they could have hoped for. Some minor parties have gained a few seats.

The swing from Labour to Conservatives is in the region of 22%

The BBC 'expert' is saying that it will be difficult for the Tories to win a General Election in this showing. WHAT?

I suspect yer BBC expert is thinking that Labour will hang on in Scotland (which is what won them the last election) but I feel that the Scots Nats will shade them out north of the border and that is what the Conservatives need.
