There's probably a simples answer to this, but WTF is it all about.

On various blogs I look at, some people end their comments with "WV = ......."

An example on OH's this morning, "WV = mentle"
On Mark Wadsworth's yesterday, "wv: Stein (I could do with one full of beer!)"

WV = West Virginia
WV = Working Version
wv = Word Version

Best I can offer old chap.

The trouble with every industry (and blogging is now an industry) is that it tends to create its own jargon so that those involved can feel superior to those "on the outside". Happened in every place I ever worked and is particularly noticeable in the Geek fraternity.

Hmmm...pretty much the same I came up with too. I shall do some more digging...

Word Verification. Some sites (like Blogger) have an option for the moderator to require comment posters to type in a random set of letters in order to make a comment. This requirement weeds out some comment spambots. Occasionally the Word Verification letters are eerily or humorously related to the content of the comment, and the poster will reference this in the comment with "WV: word. Example sentence."
WV: phona. I'm-a gonna phona this-a dictionary entry in-a.

Clearly Miss D.

Thanks BM ~ but it does rather prove my point about bloody jargon!

Did you know that the old Police RTA (Road Traffic Accident) has now been scrapped in the name of PC and replaced with RTI (Road Traffic Incident)

In this household, BM is, and has always been, the shorthand reference to Bowel Movement.

As in mother shouting "Darwin! have you had a BM today?", while reaching in the cupboard for the Syrup of Figs.  sick2:
