[quote"The Times"]A public school is being sued by a former pupil who was permanently disabled following a drunken fall from a window.

Amy St Johnston was a 16-year-old pupil at Oundle School when she got drunk at a Valentine’s Day ball and fell 15ft from her first-floor window. Miss St Johnston, now a 20-year-old classics student at Selwyn College, Cambridge, claims that the incident happened because of a “drinking culture” among students at the school. She is reported to be demanding £300,000 in damages.[/quote]

Window limiters - what next, ban upper floors altogether in case somebody slips on the stairs?

Agreed - but the drinking issues is going to be treated as a separate matter - I guarantee it . The fact is it could have been anybody  opening the window for whatever reason  ... surrender:

I have always thought that the worst thing about drowning was having to call 'help!' You must look such a fool. It's put me against drowning.

Why sue now and not 4 years ago when it happened?
