Heatwave advice
« on: July 01, 2009, 12:31:12 PM »
Ok so we've now been notched up to a level 3 heatwave alert  ( no jacket required ) and all the advice about how to 'cope' in these conditions is spewing forth.

Paint your house white - ( we have mentioned this before I know  lol: )
Keep out of the sun - ( sheer bloody genius that one )
Change your dress - ( loose fitting clothing etc )
Shut the windows in the daytime - ( letting hot air in etc)
Plant some foliage - pop a palm tree in front of your house and it will soon be blocking out the sun  ::)
Bowls of water - leave bowls of water around  ( evaporation aiding the cooling down process- but guaranteed to be tipped over by children and pets)
Drink well - not a problem  whistle:
Insulate - lofts and cavities to keep heat out
Relax - my favourite and this should involve not going to work

Of course you could just move to Scotland where such things will never be a problem  noooo:

It's a likkle bit hot - it tends to do that in the summer  ( although not every summer) , always has done always will  noooo:

There was a bit of a ding dong yesterday about whether or not to drink tea. Has the Health Dept. spokesperson who was advising us against it ever been to China? or India, or Japan, or the Middle East?    noooo: noooo:

There is also this advice - can't think who by  whistle:

wetting a t-shirt, wringing it out and putting it on will cool you for as long as the shirt remains damp  ::)

When it's bad I do that to go to sleep. Wet tshirt, fan on, normally zonked out before it dries out.

Reminds me of the cyclist I saw this morning. Only her wet t-shirt was caused by perspiration.  eeek:

Very pert though.   eyes:
