We have 6 new staff starting on Monday ..and potentially another 5 shortly. Absolutely bloody ridiculous I know given the redundo situation ( but that is only affecting managers at the moment - I stress ' at the moment' -

We are meant to hotdesk - but inevitably as is human nature , people stick to what they know and their preferred seats
I have issued a declaration of independence for each desk in the office this week and stated that they should be cleared of any personal belongings and left clear each evening. This is to be in effect by the end of this week to help accommodate new starters on Monday.
What a kerfaffle these hand wringing herd of wildebeest are creating
"But I have no space for my crockery "
- put it in the kitchen where it is meant to be
"But I need to sit next to the window because I have a condition" - then get in earlier and bag yourself a seat next to one
" I have no where to store my cycling gear " - then put it in the lockers that are several floors away
" I have no where to store my files" - then put them in the filing which is a short walk at the end of the corridor and is where they are meant to be kept anyway
" But it all feels too clinical " - give me strength
