I'm guessing a 9mm in the back of the head would be cheaper - especially in the 'States...

At the risk of Steve calling me a republican again, isn't Occasional Cortex supposed to have a BA in international relations and economics from Boston University?  facepalm:

Supporting businesses so that they don't collapse and destroy the economy is just common bloody sense and also means that when things finally get back to something resembling normality people will have jobs to go back to.

And as for medical equipment, firstly shortages are primarily a consequence of globalisation as most countries have sourced production overseas long before now. While companies based in America are stepping up they are still have to either modify existing or set up production lines completely from scratch which takes time. Secondly wasn't recently Cuomo caught on camera answering a question saying they had thousands of ventilators in reserve which weren't needed yet?

She's a berk

I can see the criticisms of the USA stimulus package, as a likely one off they might have approved it in steps and it was heavy on the protect shareholders but that's what the USA does.

The package isn't perfect, that's a given, but it was the best a bipartisan effort could manage because the senate can see that people desperately need help right now. The important thing at the moment is to get the support to where it is needed, the partisan 'orange man bad' shite needs to be put on hold until the crisis is over.

Personally I think she is also having a panicked meltdown at the moment as she realised that when everything is back to normal and the election comes about she has little chance of staying in office.
