As the article says, they only have to reinstate the area they worked on. Common sense went out of the window many years ago, however some  angel1 would find the money to do the rest, some  angel1 would say, look while you're here, do the rest, and we'll sort out that bit down there for you in exchange. It's about common sense and relationships.... and if they didn't, they'd find it a lot harder to carry out works next time  eveilgrin:

It isn't so much that the new lettering stands out but that the old lettering is unreadable...
