Dead pigeon forces road closure
Firefighters shut a section of road after a pigeon crashed into a top-floor window. Office workers feared that cracked glass would fall onto passers-by after the bird hit the Land Registry building in Peterborough, Cambs.
The bird died in the incident and firefighters had to cordon off part of the street before removing the damaged pane.
"The outside panel of the window had cracked and the glass was hanging precariously from the frame," said a fire service spokesman." Those inside the building were concerned that the glass would fall, injuring pedestrians below."
Firefighters used cones to close a section of the road, travelled up the side of the building on the turntable ladder and removed the glass."
