Who on earth thought that this would be a good way to improve the square in the first place? It looks like the kind of thing that BM would 3D print when he is pissed https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7108375/Britains-45k-worst-sculpture-demolished-months-ugly.html

I didn't read the article, but what are the chances of the council pleading poverty at every opportunity...?

Given that this is the same council that wasted £32k trying to find a replacement Chief Executive back in 2017 I'd say that's a pretty strong possibility.

Amazing how they all plead poverty due to 'nasty Tory austerity' when they are closing the public bogs and library but always have cash to spunk away on vanity projects, a new Bentley for the mayor, a pay rise all round for the councillors and a team of 'Diversity and Inclusion' officers...
I'd hate a world where every town centre was drab and utilitarian and councils didn't try to brighten them up with stuff

Stuff like filling in potholes comes to mind and with something that lasts But our councils have top down enforced serious shit to deal with right now. More responsibilities and less money
Kicking a ball barefoot made of dried fruit that is soaked in kerosene before being lit... Could make for an entertaining addition to premier league rules... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7116369/Fire-football-game-played-barefoot-teens-Indonesia.html
