The existing bill is aimed to put money into people's hands so that they can survive, into businesses so that the economy doesn't crash and into medical care so that hospitals and staff have the resources they need to treat patients and Pelosi and Schumer are trying to hijack the fucking thing so that they can force through ill advised ideological bullshit additions that have nothing to so with the current crisis including:
Increasing the bargaining power of the unions
Imposing racial and gender pay equity provisions
Diversity on corporate boards
Increase use of minority owned banks by Federal offices.
Cancel all debt owed to the Treasury by the US Postal service
Increased fuel emission standards and mandatory carbon offsets for airlines
Tax credits for alternative energy programs
Student loan payment deferment
Suspending various aspects of immigration laws
Imposing requirements on states for early voting, postal voting, required mailing of absentee ballots to everyone and ballot harvesting.
Imposing online voter registration and same day registration.
Now what the fuck does any of that have to do with the current crisis, at a stretch the only one I can see out of that which is even slightly relevant would be student loan deferment given that the universities are currently closed.
This is a time where partisan bickering needs to be put aside for the benefit of the country and it's citizens. This is nothing more than a disgusting betrayal of the electorate. To borrow a line from Picard, sheer fucking hubris. Come the election this is going to be the death knell for the Democrats and they damn well deserve it.
