Wait so any earnings you make using illegal activities are supposed to be reported to the IRS?? I'm sure that will work and make the government a fortune  lol:

Sounds stupid but it's not.  A lot easier to jail someone for tax evasion than illegally gained stuff.  As Al Capone found out
Well, whatever, nevermind

You vandalised a statue and pushed it into the river, how the hell did you end up getting a not guilty verdict? Given that the legal definition of Criminal Damage is 'A person who, without lawful excuse, destroys or damages any property belonging to another' it should have been an open and shut case. Now these arseholes and their ilk are going to see it as carte blanche to destroy anything they decide they don't agree with.   Banghead

The key is in those very words 'lawful excuse' and a jury decided they had such because the council had long wanted the statue removed

Perhaps the jury should have considered the opinion of the taxpayers of Brizzle and not a few woke councillors?  ::)

Either way, it sets the most terrible precedent  noooo:

That precedent was set ages ago.  Remember those Hawk jets that were vandalised?

I think the CPS had to pursue this case but realistically they would have known they were never going to get a jury to convict, maybe the only surprise is instead of a hung jury there was apparently a unanimous acquittal.
