Finally ~ having collected Minimus suffering from Asthma from camp early yesterday morning we nursed him through the afternoon and evening.
At 10pm Mrs S#2 decided to go into "panic mode" and took him to A&E where, his being a child and all, they instantly admitted him to the Children's Ward and stuck an oxygen mask on him. I have just spoken to Mrs S#2 who admits that she has now sat next to his bed all night whilst he has slept, his oxygen levels are improving (as I knew they would) but the "Doctor" (ie Junior Houseman AKA A Trainee ~ who else gets to work Sunday nights?) will not let him go home until the Consultant has seen him at about midday but that time depends on how long the morning outpatient clinic overruns. Mrs S#2 dare not take him away for fear of the Social Workers being called in by the hospital so she is now stuck there until either a Consultant or Senior Registrar decides the child may be released. I DID WARN HER!
And I shall personally smite the first person who says "The child's welfare must come first". She should have thought of that when we collected him and we could have gone straight to the hospital then and he (and she) would have spent the night in their own beds but oh no! let's panic 15 hours later shall we?
