Turning into yer Mum/Dad
« on: July 22, 2009, 01:11:27 PM »
Was discussing this last night  whistle:

I just checked my scar in the mirror and saw my Dad's face looking back at me.

All blokes know that when choosing a Mrs you have to check the Mum out carefully, as that's what she will end up looking like  noooo:

Mrs Nick's mum looks just like her  eeek: (or as she will be if she survives till 83  eveilgrin:)

So, who looks like their Mum/Dad?

Posted before but spooky and worth reposting

Quote
  I am the family face;
Flesh perishes, I live on,
Projecting trait and trace
Through time to times anon,
And leaping from place to place
Over oblivion.

The years-heired feature that can
In curve and voice and eye
Despise the human span
Of durance -- that is I;
The eternal thing in man,
That heeds no call to die

Thomas Hardy

Yup and I'm not .................. but I am not the only one who could do with shedding a few pounds matey  point:

The picture dates from the 1930s and people were, in general, a lot slimmer back then ~ also he was a builder, which back then meant very much more manual labour than it does today.

My brother looks and sounds much more like our Dad. It is reckoned that I more closely resemble Mum ~ although she did not have a moustache.

Personally I can see both of them looking back out of the mirror.

Weird indeed.
I saw Grandfather (the one in the picture) the other morning as I was having my weekly "close shave" with an old fashioned "Straight Razor". He used to use a "cut-throat" and as I was wielding mine and twirling the usually drooping 'tache upward out of harms way I was stuck by the similarity.

You have me looking at grandfather pics now  ::)

I look like both of them too in parts.

I got cut out of my rich aunt's will. (she was nuts)

She told me I had 'looked at her with my my father's eyes'. This when I was 12.

She must have had a grudge against him  eeek:

I definitely look more like my mother, but I am more like my father in most ways.

My brother looks far more like my father but is more like my mother in most ways.

Yours,

Confused of Surrey.
