I'm sure you are right ~ I never ceased to be amazed at those who still say they will be voting Labour. Leopards and spots I suppose.
Speaking personally I have to say that having no savings and only a small index linked pension (about £1000pa) this "recession" is doing me no harm at all. My mortgage has never been cheaper, nulabour benefits certainly benefit us, food prices are realistic and so much money is being thrown at Wales it is untrue. My boys are having a wonderful time this summer with weekly cricket lessons from local "pro", weekly tennis lessons from a local club coach, weekly golf lessons from a club pro (a club that would normally cost me £250pa each for them to get through the door of) all free to keep the feral yoof off the streets. Thing is that feral yoof isn't interested so the boys are mixing with others like us using the system to our children's advantage.
You will note that the activities are all things that a "normal" father would like to be able to teach his sons but given my health problems I cannot so I take every opportunity to get them proper coaching and if it's free so much the better. Come the end of the "Summer" holidays they will return to their, paid for by me, weekly Fencing, Swimming and Badminton clubs. One has decided that having grown too old for Cubs he doesn't want to move on to Scouts so is joining a local silver band instead whilst the other one wishes to remain a Cub.
All these activities (except Scouts/Cubs) are funded if not fully, in part, by the Welsh Assembly.
I know that those who have pensions that depend on the stock market are suffering but frankly I feel entitled to be a bit selfish 'cos if I don't take what is offered some other bugger will. I didn't ask to be in this position but since I am I'll take anything that's going. The pay back from me is to do what I can in the community as a volunteer.
