With some wimmin, it is extremely difficult, sometimes impossible, to find, never mid actuate.

Certainly some are defective and no amount of manipulation will produce the desired effect(s).

And remeber, all of this without an instruction manual ot tech support!

That's why you always require a newer version  whistle:

It works for Microsoft doesn't it? Every few months a newer, improved version. None of them work any better but they all cost more.

And before you suggest it I've tried the Linux "open access" version and frankly once everyone else had put their bits in I didn't rate that either.

But by the mere fact that it is newer and may do different things it becomes a necessity to have  whistle:

This will be the "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" theme, I suppose.

I think I prefer tried and tested over new and unpredictable, although things often pop up and catch you out, no matter how old.

For the sake of ?40 buy a new one. Alternatively try using an ethernet cable direct to the router and see if that makes a difference. It maybe the problem isn't in the router but with your wireless connection

Then I reckon the router is fvcked.

I use Netgear which has proved very reliable. It has been known to run 5 laptops wirelessly and my desktop via ethernet cable without any problems despite my ISP saying they only support one wireless connection.

That said ~ do you not have a deal with Telecom or the Post Office or one of those companies that supplied the router as part of the package? I don't but I know many who do and when they have a problem they simply ask for a new router. Since I own mine and use a cheaper ISP then I accept I may have to buy another one day.

PS at least a new router will have a guarantee and if it doesn't solve the problem take it back and get Telecom to sort out your line.

I don't  think my ISP will provide a new one and if I have to buy a new one that's fine I just need to know that it will fix it but I also know that it will be a few more hours on the phone to India to reconfigure it all and the joy of that prospect makes me reluctant to change it if I don't have to .

The Brat is doing my head in - obviously I am absolutely ruining her life because she cannot talk to her friends on the t'internet  Banghead

I currently have a Netgear router but it is prolly over 6 years old now  rubschin:

Oh God ~ do I know what you mean!

How the F*** do they think we managed to have friendships when we were young?

The THW never turns her Mac off, even whilst asleep, in case someone emails, tweets or whatever to her.

I pull the plug on the internet connection some evenings (about ten pm usually) just to stop the nonsense. She screams and shouts about it but since I have the plug there is nothing she can do. He who pays the piper calls the tune I tell her. eveilgrin:

She tried to piggy back on my mate's wireless connection which he and I had discussed as a possibility and he frightened the life out of her because I tipped him off that I was about to pull the plug so he "unlocked" his security and when she popped up he cut in and told her to "F*CK OFF! or else".
Wicked I know but effective.whistle:
