Have you ever looked at how much detail people put on their profiles.

I though that places/companies etc were bad enough but people put their email addresses and some are made enough to put their mobile nos on there.

Scares the life out of me, that people can be that daft.

Dunno how it is these days but anything more than a page was an automatic reject in my day. We were never looking for a biography just a brief summary of achievements. The ones that really got me annoyed were the silly sods who 'phoned the following day for a "debrief" ~ then I found out that the Job Centres were telling them to do this.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

But as to your post, yes the advice is to pester companies including cold-calling.

He's talking about online profiles and betrayal of information. We are all guilty of that (mostly) but I know what you mean

Because of working in IT I've always been wary of computers/internet etc.

It's too easy to find about people when they post so much about themselves.

Start with their name and area, then wait for them to say they are going on holiday - bingo for burglars.

That's just one small example. It doesn't have to be anything sophiscated like identity theft.

Luckily 192 doesn't have quite so much info as in the past, still plenty there though.

Years back, I scared the life out of my friend who is a magistrate. She was ex-directory but 192 disclosed her number, address and the names and numbers of the neighbours either side.

To get a job I once wrote a complete profile of a bloke. I had his name and postcode -  no more. He had moved during the year so I got his previous address and records too. eveilgrin:

It took me twenty minutes on the intermong. I told him about his daughter, wife, garden, reading habits, holidays, income, preferred food even. The lot. I even told him he preferred hardbacks to paperbacks  eeek:

He gave me the contract

I would probably be easiest! I am all over the shop!

As for finding work via social networking sites!?!?!? Trust me, I am on most of them and none of them are any great help in that department!
