As you may be aware I have taken the carpet up in my bedroom but have left the underlay and the grippers etc for the carpet fitters on Thursday ( as this costs an additional bomb
) ....so every time I am going in and out of my bedroom all I have to do is remember not to step on the gripper by the threshold.

A fairly simple request to my brain
My foot now looks like a feckin colander
Nearly every time I step on the blasted thing and then go hopping around the room cursing.
Before some smart alec says why don't you cover that bit up I tried that and tripped over the cut off bit of carpet.
I thought if you made the same mistake over and over again you learn from this and don't repeat
I am off to put some Polyfilla in my feet
