I am returned!
Just been released from hospital. Went in yesterday morning, operated on yesterday early evening.
Feeling much more comfortable now.

The abscess had been caused by a "Fistula" forming that then became infected (hence the abscess)
Operation involved draining the abscess, packing out the fistula etc. See http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/anal_fistula_repair.html
Yes I was under a general anesthetic, yes it is bloody sore and yes the "packing" has to be checked by the district nurse daily for the next three weeks.
Time in Operating Theatre 1 hour. Time under anesthetic 45 mins. Throat now very bruised as, they tell me, they had problems getting the tube down my throat and had two attempts, finally resorting to brute force. They have apologised for the bruising.

And what caused this? It seems that one of the heart meds I was put on some 18 months ago is the prime suspect. Nicorandil by name it has recently (so they tell me) been identified as a culprit in a couple of studies. So I also have to go back next week to see the cardio people to have the meds changed again Banghead

BUT I can walk and sit and even sh*t again. ;D
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Presumably offers to "kiss it better" are few and far between?
