Miss D's never ending list of things I don't understand

Algebra
Quantum Physics
Men
etc etc etc

But today's theme of bemusement is people who when winning squillions of pounds on the lottery, or some such like ,then go on and choose to publicise this to the world rubschin:

It is not a requirement of accepting the money  noooo:

Ok when you are in a syndicate type thing you may not have much of a choice if you are outvoted by the others but if you are a couple then why not just graciously accept the money and then go away and change you life forever.

Hopefully preventing every vulture, vagabond and desperado from contacting you again

As the latest couple in question said "There is no way you can keep this secret"

The newspapers will ferret around until they identify the place the ticket was bought and the likely town/village/area that the winners live in and the change in lifestyle will tip off "friends", neighbours, relatives and some jealous scrote among them will race to tell the Sun in return for a ?500 reward.

But prior to this the second largest winner who won over ?26 million is still anonymous .

If the newspaper want to waste their time trying to find them then so be it .....it doesn't mean you have to co-operate and open up your life for dissection at the earliest opportunity

So, let's assume for a fantasy moment or two that one of us VPers was the happy recipient of a lottery win  razz:

What would you do?  Keep schtum and quietly disappear leaving all to wonder?  Announce it and send everyone a celebratory 50p postal order?
