'ang on a minute ~ My Dad didn't even have a car when I was a kid
He didn't get his first car until I'd left home. In fact I had a car before he did.
When I was a nipper in our street there were only three vehicles, one was me Uncle Jack's Bread Van, one was the Water-board man's company van and the last belonged to Mr Wilson who was an insurance company manager. The milkman and the road sweepers used horse and cart. No not a small rural village backwater but in the middle of Southampton.
Mind you me Mum used to give me the cards out of the tea and Dad used to let me have the cards out of his ciggies
