It's days are surely numbered now

Oh dear, oh dear.
Looks like I wrote without realising what was in store just two days from posting that  ^^.

The cat is dead. eeek:

Combination of a possible stroke I strongly suspect, and old age.
Growlers jnr. are extremely upset, and I feel a bit of a bad twat now.
It was such a pain in the arse, but even this grizzly old bear feels a pang of guilt for all the things I've said to it and about it now tbh.

I must admit that it was bloody horribly harrowing watching its last few minutes of life ebb away, writhing and gasping.

I have a very large hole to dig in the morning.

Amazing how we get attached to these animals Growler  happy100

Although you moaned about it, you looked after it and I'm sure it appreciated it smile:

Don't go feeling guilty, just dig a smaller hole for the cat instead  ;)

So you DO have a soft spot after all.  ;)

A shame, but it was on the cards at that age and your grumbling won't have made any difference.

Yes mate. I was in two minds as to wheather I should have actually have used those words tbh, but yes, they quite accurately describe how it all ended for 'Fluffy'.
Best tell it how it is.
Awful was how it did actually feel tbqath, and MM was unconsolable.
Took me an hour to gently move her away from its basket in the back room here.

I've personally never actually witnessed anything going through the last 'motions' of life and don't want to ever again. You feel as though you should be doing something to help, but feel desperatyely helpless. You just have to kneel there and pitifully watch with a total feeling of uselesness.

I do actually feel very sad now and am strangely missing that awful meowing howling yowling and scratching at the front door noises.

I'll go start digging a grave for it. Nerxt doors garden beckons, and I just hope and pray the daughter doesn't suddenly turn up.

Evidently yes.
I do feel utterly crap for not being nicer to it now....not that I physically hurt it like, I just could have been a bit friendlier towards it, yes.

Perhaps you need counselling  rubschin:

No, just some help digging.

I suspected their was something wrong with it a few days ago, as it wasn't eating its food.
However, the daughter next door had been there quite a bit, tidying and cleaning/sorting stuff, as the house has just gone up for rental 2 days ago, so I logically and initially suspected that she's been feeding it, like she admitted to doing a couple of weeks ago...sausages and milk.  ::)

It was when it literraly fell over outside yesterday afternoon that I felt something was seriously wrong.
Gave it some milk which it didn't really drink much of, tiny bit of food, and then it just went and lay down in it's basket for 6 hours before finally 'shutting down'.

Those last 20 minutes will haunt me forever. cry:

Always sad to watch a pet die, even if you didn't like it but it comes to us all in the ned.

You say you've never watched the last moments before ~ trust me it's even worse when it's a person.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.
